Frequently Asked Questions

Q: [How did you get started in missions?]
A: [The short answer is, that we had to come to a place where we really began to trust and obey God.  Not just go-to-church-on-Sunday, kind of trust but with our lives kind of trust.  The rest was easy, just pray and obey.]

Q: [I understand some Mission Agencies (MA) require a percentage of the donations received on your behalf.]
A: [This is a common practice and varies widely from MA to MA.  These are used to cover state-side administrative costs.  Remember they are your "power of attorney" while you out of the US, handling individual affairs on your behalf.  An organization/agency may have many missionaries working with them in foreign countries and administration costs.  On the other hand, if you are an independent missionary, many of your supporters will still want a tax receipt for their giving.  This means you will need to incorporate and handle all your own administration, including tax receipting.]

Q: [What is daily life like on the mission field?]
A: [Humm, no formula or routine exists.  Every day is as the Holy Spirit leads, it is a great adventure.  Start by praying for God to put you in someone's path.  When the moment is right, share the Gospel of Jesus Christ; share how personal it is to you.  If people are not coming to you, go find them.]

Q: How do you  live on a foreign mission field, clothes, food, etc? ]
A: [It can be a real test of faith but you get used to it real quick (or you don't).  Look up Luke 6:8, Jesus is sending the twelve out two by two.  commanding that they take nothing for their journey.  God alone is your source for clothes, food, and shelter.  Often he works through family, friends, churches, even strangers to bring daily bread and the resources to bless the people with.  You can't hold on to tightly to things that come into your possession; that thing may be for someone else and just passing through you.]
