2000 Watt portable generator

Update, this need has been met !!!

We are pleased to report that a generous donation received in November 2010, enabled us to purchase a portable generator with more than twice the power output of the unit described below, 4400 Watts to be exact.

An added bonus is that the unit below also outputs 220 VAC and 12 VDC, convenient when you need to charge the car battery while out in the rural areas, (this is Guatemala after all).

Robin and I made the trip to Guatemala City to shop for just the right unit and made the purchase in the first days of January 2011.  Praise God as His plan unfolds in this new year.

The rural areas of Guatemala located directly to the north of our mission base in Quetzaltenango are home to the Maya Indian; these are the poorest of the poor.  Many villages are without utilities, no power grid exists in these places. Where the people are fortunate enough to have access to electrical power, it is at best, unreliable. Electricity in many areas is what you bring with you.

This 2000 watt unit, capable of powering audio, visual, and lighting can be obtained in Guatemala for Q2,299.95 or (288.00 USD)

The modern technologies that add sight, sound, and volume to the Gospel message require stable, reliable power.  Be it digital projector, laptop computer, or sound system, they all need power to bring to life the Good news of Jesus Christ

15 years earlier missionary’s resources had to be driven across Mexico and into Guatemala.  At border crossings the equipment is subject to heavy tariff (bribe) or outright theft.

Today the Capital City of Guatemala has Sam’s Club-like shopping.  Here much of the needed support equipment can be obtained at reasonable cost.
