Central American road systems are strikingly limited when compared to the intricate systems that crisscross any-city USA. Stopping the flow of traffic between cities is often used to voice political or civil discontent with government policies. When this occurs, movement between cities and municipalities is impossible. Worse yet, you could find yourself trapped in a miles long line of vehicles unable to move for hours.  On the 15th of August 2022, SGSP Aviation Ministries was on the ramp waiting for the early a.m. fog to clear. We took flight just as the fog broke to reveal the high mountain range between us and our destination. From an altitude of 10,500 feet, the mission aircraft cleared the flat gap known as “Alaska”, at the top of the range. Robin pointed out the blockade beginning to form, “Glad we are not down there”, I thought to myself. Landing safely at our destination, we collected our ministry passengers and filed a return flight plan. Re-crossing “Alaska”, the line of blocked traffic had grown by miles in both directions. Later, news outlets reported that the blockade was finally lifted,12 hours after it had formed. An entire day would been lost had missionary air services not been an available option.
